Achievements in 2022
What Brandon Town Council has achieved in 2022, so far…
- Renewed the footpath through the Churchyard.
- Organised the start of the Suffolk Torch Relay, ending at the Suffolk Show ground.
- Organised the Jubilee celebrations on Market Hill.
- Provided quality flag poles for the High Street and Market Hill.
- Provided the infrastructure and bunting/flags for the High Street and Market Hill decoration.
- Installed the new planters on George Street.
- Installed the new bus shelter on George Street.
- Painted the Street Furniture on Market Hill.
- Organised the Nine Stiles Walk.
- Maintained the seating on Market Hill.
- Painted the gates of the Brandon Town Cemetery.
- Made representation to Suffolk County Council to get the pedestrian crossing lights replaced in Bury Road.
- Organised the Hay making event in the St Peters churchyard in conjunction with St Peters Church.
- Designed, Engineered and Launched the new Brandon Town Web Site.
- Launched the new Brandon Town Council Facebook page.
- Brandon Town Council continues to litter pick and maintain the areas of Brandon we are responsible for. These being the Brandon Remembrance children’s play area, Thetford Rd play area, The Lode, Victoria Ave, Monkey Stile path, Gas House path, George Street planters, Market Hill planters and the Bury Road planter (Adjacent to the doctors).
- Maintenance of both the Brandon Cemetery and St Peter’s Churchyard.
- Maintain regular communication with RAF Lakenheath, regarding aircraft movement.
What is to come…
- Consultation on the layout and features of the New Cemetery.
- Daily updates on both the Town Council web site and Facebook page.
- Trees in the Cemetery and Churchyard to be Pollarded.
- Remembrance Day Service and Parade.
- Installation of the Christmas lights.
- Erection of the Christmas tree.
- Christmas Lights switch on/Santa’s Grotto/Funfair.
We are working hard with West Suffolk to ensure that the Brandon continues to flourish, as some local town centres are already suffering following the Covid pandemic, and the current looming recession.
